One of college football’s top teams, the Miami Hurricanes, are 5-0 following a dramatic 38-34 home win against the Virginia Tech Hokies. The box score will read that Virginia Tech missed on a potential walk-off touchdown pass from quarterback Kyron Drones in the game’s final seconds. However, the final play was much more than a routine incomplete heave, with officials initially ruling Drones’ Hail Mary pass in the back of the endzone a game-winning score.
With a first-and-ten from the Miami 30-yard line, Drones tossed a ball to the endzone, with six players jumping for the final reception. Virginia Tech’s Da’Quan Felton and a Miami football defender fought for football in the game’s final seconds. Despite the football eventually finding itself in the possession of the Hurricanes, the officials ruled it a Hokies touchdown on the field before eventually overturning the play following a dramatic review. College football fans went bonkers postgame after the contest finished on a controversial call.
College Football Fans Go Crazy Following Insane Miami-VT Tilt
According to college football insider CJ Vogel:
An unimaginable finish in Miami. Ruled a game-winning TD for Virginia Tech on a last-second Hail Mary. Miami comes away with the football, yet ruled a TD for the Hokies on the field. After review, it’s reversed. Miami wins.
The college football world came to a standstill late Friday night after a Virginia Tech walk-off touchdown against Miami went to review. Officials called the play on the field a thirty-yard touchdown pass from Virginia Tech Hokies quarterback Kyron Drones to receiver Da’Quan Felton. However, following a lengthy review with a representative from the ACC, the referees overturned the call, finding enough evidence to suggest either Felton did not have possession or was not within the field of play by the time he did.
With the win, Miami football will remain one of college football’s highest-ranked teams, entering Friday’s matchup as the No. 7 team in the country. As for Virginia Tech, they will drop 2-3 on the season, with a road game scheduled next Saturday against Stanford. However, college football fans were not eager to move on to Saturday’s upcoming slate, going berzerk on social media after the controversial ending to Friday’s primetime mashup:
Someone needs to tell me what the point of indisputable evidence is because this was just pure feelings

Crazy reversal on the Miami Virginia Tech game. I don’t see how you can reverse that call. Should have stood as called because you just can’t tell. Pretty fixed
