Lots of very strange and unclear musings coming out of the Seattle Seahawks camp at the 11th hour, prior to their MNF matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles.
After the Eagles got some good news of their own regarding their starting quarterbacks, Geno Smith’s playing status for tonight, the Seahawks remain in some unexpected purgatory of their own regarding their signal caller for this evening.
Whilst it was expected that Drew Lock would start once again after suiting up against the San Francisco 49ers in the Week 14 28-16 loss, as Geno Smith continues to recover from a groin injury, the veteran was a suprise addition to the active list, per Ian Rapoport.
The #Seahawks will dress three QBs tonight, and Geno Smith will. be among them. That’s a good sign. The team has not yet announced who is starting. But Smith is active. https://t.co/rPvTotuIjY

So Is Geno Smith Playing Tonight?
Well, the answer to that is not entirely clear. Normally when a starter is active, he starts -as logic would dictate. There would be no reason to keep Smith on the bench in the cold if he is not truly able to play, and if he is, he should start.
But it seems like, as Geno Smith was trending away from starting over this week, in pre game warmups the 32 year old threw a curveball the coaches’ way, per Brady Henderson.
On his radio hit with @RaibleKIRO7, GM John Schneider said Geno Smith surprised the Seahawks with how good he looked in pregame warmups. He noted that while Smith is active, they still have about an hour until kickoff “to figure out what’s going on.”

Henderson also mentions that:
“Drew Lock took all first team reps last week” – Schneider
So, who knows what is happening – and really this weird playing/not playing is kinda giving this game some interesting will they/won’t they prelude in real time.
Let’s see what happens, and if Geno Smith manages to make it onto the field in time for kickoff.
