Four Takeaways (From Tiger Victory)
Takeaway Number 1. The Memphis Tigers passing game is still strong.
415 yards, 24-34, no interceptions. The second straight week with no turnovers for QB Seth Henigan, though 2 fumbles the Tigers recovered. Third down conversion was better, and the first long drives of the season. Joseph Scates (see this summary about his transfer) caught a 79 yard touchdown pass.
Takeaway Number 2. Tiger secondary still ok, bend but doesn’t break.
Quindell Johnson led the team in tackles a second straight week- an astounding 11 solo. That’s great for him, but for a defense, the safety is not supposed to do that, especially on a good defense. Second straight week for the defense to have an interception and a fumble recovery. And the one-handed over-the-shoulder interception by Quindell Johnson was as pretty a catch as you’ll see from any wide receiver this year. LB Xavier Cullens had a great game with 9 tackles, as well as the fumble recovery from the forced fumble by Johnson.
Takeaway Number 3. This Running offense is not yet living up to promise.
Asa Martin steps up to be leading rusher. 2 leading rushers in two weeks, neither was the starting running back. Despite not breaking a long run this week, Jeyvon Ducker caught a 37-yard pass to be involved in the offense. Against a Navy defense that’s run-strong and pass-weak, it’s probably not a bad sign. But two weeks in a row without a 100-yard rusher could be a bad portent of things to come.
And still undefeated…@MemphisFB goes 2-0 in this helmet/mask combo. #ALLIN #GTG pic.twitter.com/hLkaaKSpsb

Four Takeaways – Takeaway Number 4. Stripes Make You look Faster.
As most race car drivers know, stripes make you look faster. The Tiger helmet was a nice look and the team seemed a little more rapid.
