It was announced today that former Mississippi State Bulldogs head coach Zach Arnett is joining the in-state rival Ole Miss Rebels in an analyst role.
Zach Arnett had a short stint as the head coach of the Mississippi State Bulldogs. Arnett served as defensive coordinator for the Bulldogs before head coach Mike Leach was hospitalized on December 11, 2022. Zach Arnett was named interim head coach and led the Bulldogs to a bowl victory over Illinois to finish off the 2022 season and was named head coach going forward into 2023. Arnett didn’t have the greatest run as the Bulldogs’ head coach with a disappointing record of 5-6.
Head Coach, Lane Kiffin was complementary of Arnett when talking about him today “I’ve had a lot of respect for Zach and thought they did a great job over there in Starkville during his time on defense and caused people problems,” Kiffin said.
Zach Arnett former roles
Apart from his tenure at Mississippi State, Arnett has a background in coaching, notably at San Diego State from 2011 to 2019. During this period, he began as a graduate assistant (GA) and progressed to assume the roles of defensive coordinator and linebackers coach before transitioning to join Leach’s staff in Starkville Mississippi.
