The Florida State football program has already flipped the page on a disastrous end to the 2023 season, signing their signal-caller for the upcoming season. Per Matt Zenitz of 247Sports, former Oregon State Beavers quarterback DJ Uiagalelei has transferred to Florida State.

Uiagalelei entered the transfer portal in late November after one season with the Beavers. He joined a list of high-end quarterbacks within the portal, including Duke’s Riley Leonard, Washington State’s Cam Ward, and Oklahoma’s Dillon Gabriel.
DJ Uiagalelei: Three-Year College Starter
Uiagalelei, a consensus top-five prospect in the class of 2020, started his college career with the Clemson Tigers. He sat behind current Jacksonville Jaguars starting quarterback Trevor Lawrence as a freshman before winning the job in 2021. However, the former top recruit tossed just nine touchdowns against ten picks. Uiagalelei started again in 2022, throwing for 22 touchdowns against seven picks for the Tigers. Head coach Dabo Swinney opted for Cade Klubnik over Uiagalelei in the Orange Bowl, resulting in Uiagalelei’s transfer.
Uiagalelei took his talents to Oregon State for the 2023 season, throwing for a career-high 2,638 yards and 21 touchdowns in 12 games. The six-foot-four, 250-pound gunslinger also ran for 219 yards and six touchdowns. Despite his team’s success, Uiagalelei entered the transfer portal, marking the second time in as many years.
Florida State Football: QB Depth Chart
The Florida State football program must replace longtime starter Jordan Travis for the 2024 season. Travis spent the past five years with the Seminoles but will move on to the professional ranks, while backup Tate Rodemaker entered the transfer portal. The only other quarterback to throw the ball this season was freshman Brock Glenn. The youngster struggled mightily in two starts, going 19-of-51 for 229 yards and no touchdowns against two picks. Glenn was the 21st-ranked quarterback in the class of 2023, per 247Sports. Fellow freshmen Dylan McNamara and Michael Grant are also on the roster, but neither earned high marks via the recruiting circuit.
