Florida State football had a year to forget in 2024. Following a 13-1 season, an ACC title, and the acquisition of former five-star quarterback DJ Uiagalelei, the Florida State Seminoles had high expectations heading into this latest campaign. However, FSU fell in upset fashion to the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets in their season opener, scored just 13 points against Boston College the following week in a loss, and again got bested by the Memphis Tigers at home to start the year 0-3. Meanwhile, Uiagalelei suffered a broken finger in his throwing hand midway through the season. Poor performances from backup Brock Glenn led to the debut of blue-chip prospect and true freshman gunslinger Luke Kromenhoek.
Kromenhoek played admirably, leaving Florida State football fans optimistic about his future with the ACC power. However, on Tuesday, the freshman turned the program on its head, entering the transfer portal, much to the dismay of the Seminole faithful.
Florida State Football Fans Saddened By Loss of 5-Star QB

Breaking: Florida State 5-star true freshman QB Luke Kromenhoek plans to enter the NCAA Transfer Portal, per @Hayesfawcett3.
On Tuesday, quarterback Luke Kromenhoek entered the transfer portal, leaving Florida State football after one season with the club. On six games, two of which were starts, Kromenhoek threw for 502 yards, three touchdowns, and two picks while completing 52.4% of his passes. He also rushed 63 times for 113 yards. His best game came against Charleston Southern, going 13-of-20 for 209 yards and three touchdowns. Per 247Sports, Kromenhoek was the fourth-ranked quarterback prospect in the class of 2024, trailing only DJ Lagway, Dylan Raiola, and Julian Sayin.
Kromenhoek’s departure leaves Florida State football without a direct future at the quarterback position, especially with starter DJ Uiagalelei finishing his fifth year at the college level this season. As of Tuesday, Glenn is the only returning quarterback with playing time, throwing for four touchdowns against seven interceptions in his two seasons. Nevertheless, Kromenhoek has Florida State fans spinning, distraught with his departure:
