Last season, the Florida State football program became the first Power Five team in college football history to go undefeated, win their conference title, and not make the four-team postseason field. Since the CFP committee snubbed the Florida State Seminoles, the ACC program is 1-5, including a blowout road loss against the SMU Mustangs last Saturday. In the loss, former five-star mega prospect and ex-Oregon State Beavers and Clemson Tigers quarterback DJ Uiagalelei hurled three interceptions.
On Monday, Florida State football announced that Uiagalelei or Brock Glenn would start next weekend’s matchup against the Clemson Tigers. Shortly afterward, reports surfaced that Glenn would get the nod, with Uiagalelei headling to the shelf with a broken finger on his throwing hand. Florida State football fans quickly jumped to social media following the news, with Uiagalelei’s injury coming on the heels of a brutal start to his career in Tallahassee, Florida.
Fans Unfazed with Injury of Florida State Football QB DJ Uiagalelei
According to college football insider Pete Thamel of ESPN:
Sources: Florida State QB DJ Uiagalelei is undergoing testing to figure out options for a broken finger on his throwing hand, which he suffered against SMU. He’s expected to miss the next few weeks, but a clear timeline will come with further evaluation.
Uiagalelei, the starting quarterback for Florida State football after transferring to the ACC power this offseason, will miss at least the next few weeks while dealing with a thumb injury. He will head to the sidelines 84-of-156 for 1,065 yards, four touchdowns, and six interceptions. He also tallied 37 carries for -8 yards and no scores. His 112.6 quarterback rating was his lowest since his second year with the Clemson Tigers when he tossed nine touchdowns against ten picks across 13 games.
The 2024 rendition of the Florida State football team is 1-4 with DJ Uiagalelei under center. The Florida State Seminoles opened the season with a narrow loss to the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets in Dublin, Ireland, before losing at home against the Boston College Eagles. The Seminoles lost again in Week 2 against the Memphis Tigers but bounced back with a mid-September win against the California Golden Bears. However, their latest loss to the SMU Mustangs, 42-16, marks the fourth time this season’s team failed to eclipse the 20-point threshold. Nevertheless, Florida State fans were quick to pass over the Uiagalelei injury news:

He is not a good QB! He has shown who he is. However those around him are not good either!

About time, he shouldn't be starting. But would of loved seeing our defense sack him

There’s a real possibility that depending on how Brock Glenn looks against Clemson this weekend, DJ Uiagalelei may never start a college football game again. pic.twitter.com/Wngi1I3cie
