Aaron Rodgers has had plenty of controversy over the years, like the Sandy Hook controversy, according to CNN.
Rodgers reportedly shared “deranged” conspiracy theories about the shooting not being real, according to CNN journalist Pamela Brown. Brown was introduced to Rodgers at a Post-Kentucky Derby after-party when he began to attack the media for covering up important stories.
He claimed that Sandy Hook was an inside government job and the media intentionally ignored it. Notable conspiracy talk show host Alex Jones was ordered to pay at least $1.1 billion to Sandy Hook families for peddling the same conspiracies., according to Reuters.
Aaron Rodgers did issue a statement about it saying.
As I’m on the record saying in the past, what happened in Sandy Hook was an absolute tragedy. I am not and have never been of the opinion that the events did not take place. Again, I hope that we learn from this and other tragedies to identify the signs that will allow us to prevent unnecessary loss of life. My thoughts and prayers continue to remain with the families affected along with the entire Sandy Hook community. ❤️
Former Teammate of Aaron Rodgers Still Speaks Highly of the Embattled Quarterback
But when it comes to football, former Packers wide receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling has had nothing but great things to say about Rodgers.
During an interview with Zach Gelb of CBS Sports, here’s what MVS had to say about Rodgers.
“He’s one of the greatest teammates you’ll ever find. He cares more about his teammates than the game of football. I think that’s something people don’t really understand because they get this perception of him that he’s this diva or that he’s all about himself,” Valdes-Scantling told Gelb. “That’s the furthest thing from the truth. Aaron has taught me so much, on the field and off the field. He’s such a big advocate of mental health and how you approach life. The things that he’s gone through over the years, he shares that to let you know that he’s human too.”
Aaron Rodgers has also been impressed with Marquez Valdes-Scantling in the past, saying stuff like.
“I would say the receiver I’ve been most impressed with, especially the last week or 10 days of camp, is Marquez,” Rodgers said, via Packers News. “I think he has had some really good practices in a row and started to lay down some good practice fundamentals that he can lean on. But at the same time, I know (coach) Matt (LaFleur) said this at one point, this is the new standard for MVS. I’m proud of the way that he’s gone about his business. I thought he had a fantastic Sunday and made a bunch of plays. Some heady plays and just some plays he’s supposed to make. Now he’s making the catches he’s expected to make, and he’s adding some extra plays in there where he’s doing some smart things and showing the growth, so I’m really proud of MVS.”
Valdes-Scantling was teammates with Rodgers on the Green Bay Packers from 2018-2021. He had a career year in 2020, hauling in 33 passes for 690 yards and six touchdowns.
Marquez Valdes-Scantling is currently a free agent after being released by the Kansas City Chiefs, as Aaron Rodgers is currently beginning to start his second season as the Jets quarterback, which the first ending in an Achilles injury in the first quarter vs the Buffalo Bills, in game one, ending his season.
