The Eagles’ head coach Nick Sirianni made some waves when he brought Matt Patricia to the coaching staff. After a failed head coaching gig with the Detroit Lions, Patricia returned to the New England Patriots and coached one of the worst offenses we have ever seen. With that said, he did spend a lot of time in New England and had a lot of success. Sirianni praised Patricia’s knowledge in a recent interview.
Nick Sirianni Calls Matt Patricia “An Excellent Resource”
“He’s been an excellent resource for me. You bring guys like that in to do just that, be resources for you, be resources for the defensive coordinator. He has a ton of experience. It’s nice to have a former head coach on the staff that I’m able to bounce some different things off of.
Like I said, awesome, awesome resource, comes from a great coaching tree. Always been fascinated by that coaching tree, and how I can pick the brain of that so I can continue to get better as a coach and ultimately us get better as a team.”
Even though the Eagles made it to the Super Bowl last season, Sirianni recognizes that they need to improve in order to make it back. Often, having an outside person come in can be beneficial as that person could see things others do not.
Can The Eagles Return To The Super Bowl?
The Eagles are clearly the best team in the NFC. The weaker of the two conferences does not offer much resistance to getting back to the playoffs. However, the Eagles are in the toughest division in the NFC. The Dallas Cowboys have Super Bowl aspirations of their own. The Giants cannot be counted out after making the playoffs last year and even the Commanders have some quality players. None of those teams are a pushover. If the Eagles are going to get back to the Super Bowl, they will have to deal with their division first.
Hopefully, Matt Patricia can continue to be a great resource for Nick Sirianni. If the Eagles can be even better than last year, they are going to be hard to stop.
