Jalen Hurts and the Philadelphia Eagles suffered a very humbling defeat in Week 13 action against the San Francisco 49ers. After a ton of buildup to the game, the 49ers came in and absolutely dominated the Eagles in Philadelphia. San Francisco ended up winning the matchup by a final score of 42-19 and made a statement to the rest of the NFL.
Despite the loss, the Eagles are still one of the top Super Bowl contenders in the league. They will have to get back up for next week’s matchup on Sunday Night Football as well. Philadelphia will take on the Dallas Cowboys in Dallas in what has become a very hot race for the NFC East title.
In the game against the 49ers, Hurts went down with what many worried was a concussion. Thankfully, he did not end up having a concussion.
Eagles’ Nick Sirianni Speaks Out On Injury Concerns Surrounding Jalen Hurts
While fans are panicking after the loss to the 49ers and the injury to Hurts, head coach Nick Sirianni spoke out and provided some calming words.
“I thought he was fine when he came back in and was running the show and operating fine,” Sirianni said post-game. “Went down, drove, got a touchdown. Then we just stalled out on the next drive. They’re playing soft or giving us the stuff underneath, but I thought he operated fine when he came back in.”
Sirianni is clearly not too worried about Hurts’ injury status for Week 14. However, he did add in a little extra that will keep some fans holding their breath.
“Obviously, we’ll see how he’s feeling and everything.”
Basically, there is zero need for the Eagles or their fans to panic. Hurts is fine and should be just fine to play in Week 14 against the Cowboys. After defeating them in November, getting the second win and season sweep, especially on the road, will be a very difficult task.
Looking closer at the NFC, the Eagles are still a top-notch contender but they have a ton of competition. Both the 49ers and Cowboys are elite teams, while the Detroit Lions have also been very good this season. There is no clear-cut favorite in the NFC right now, although the 49ers have blown out both the Cowboys and Eagles.
Make sure to tune in next week to see Hurts and the Eagles take on the Cowboys. The game can be seen at 8:20 p.m. EST on NBC’s Sunday Night Football.
