The Duke Blue Devils had a very good college football season this year. They finished this season with a 9-3 record. One of the reasons why Duke was much improved is because of quarterback Maalik Murphy.
The Blue Devils will face the Ole Miss Rebels in the TaxSlayer Gator Bowl on January 2 at 7:30 p.m. ET on ESPN in Jacksonville, Florida. Ole Miss also has a 9-3 record this season in college football.
Duke Blue Devils Quarterback Maalik Murphy To Enter the Transfer Portal
Last year, Murphy transferred from the Texas Longhorns to the Duke Blue Devils. This time around, he announced on Monday that he will be entering the transfer portal. This comes as a major shock to the football program.
This season with Duke, he completed 60.3% of his passes for 2,933 yards, 26 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions. Murphy was a sophomore this past season. It will be intriguing to see where he lands for next season.

He saw that match-up against Ole Miss and saw Rebel 1st stringers opting in for the bowl game and said, “I’m out!”.

Feel awful for Duke. What a kick in the nuts.

Bro why not just stay at Duke? Won 9 games, knows the system, build a culture and commitment as a man. This is out of control.

With Murphy not playing in the bowl game for head coach Manny Diaz, sophomore quarterback Henry Belin IV could very well be the starting quarterback for Duke against Ole Miss. It is crazy that the former Texas Longhorns quarterback will be transferring from a program that he was comfortable with this past season at Duke. He is 6’5″ and weighs 230 lbs.
