The Ohio State Buckeyes will have to replace quarterback Will Howard for the 2025 college football season. Howard is expected to be one of the names at the quarterback position called during the 2025 NFL Draft.

He transferred from the Kansas State Wildcats after the 2023 season to Ohio State. Howard led the Buckeyes to a national title during the 2024 season after going 10-2 during the regular season. It helps when he had Emeka Egbuka and Jeremiah Smith to throw to and also having Quinshon Judkins and TreVeyon Henderson in the backfield. Gee Scott Jr. was the tight end for the Buckeyes for the 2024 season. With having that much talent around, will it help Howard’s draft stock?
Former Ohio State Buckeyes Quarterback Will Howard Makes Shocking Statement Ahead Of the 2025 NFL Draft

Howard made a recent appearance on Hey Rookie: Welcome to the NFL. On that episode, he talked about how he is promising teams who miss drafting him will plan on regretting it. Howard said,
“I feel like my whole career I’ve been overlooked. I didn’t have an offer from Pitt, I didn’t have an offer from Syracuse, I didn’t have an offer from Boston College, Penn State, Duke, Carolina. None of those schools offered me. I was trying for years. And I went to Kansas State and said, ‘I want to prove those people wrong.’ I hope Penn State looks back and says ‘Damn, we missed out on Will Howard.”
During the 2024 season with Ohio State, he completed 73.1% of his passes for 4,010 yards, 35 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions. His QBR (quarterback rating) was 89.6. He also rushed for 226 yards on 105 carries and seven touchdowns, along with averaging 2.2 yards per rush.
Howard was also the offensive MVP for the National Championship Game against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. He also added,
“You know, when I get to the NFL, I don’t want you guys to miss out on me. Because every single team that picks a quarterback in front of me, I’m going to make it my mission to make sure that they regret not picking me. Draft me. Draft me, or you’ll regret it.”
There is a good chance that he is no drafted within the first three rounds of the 2025 NFL Draft. There is a good chance that Howard’s name could be called in the fourth or the fifth round. The former Buckeyes quarterback is hoping to get a chance in the NFL.
Some potential teams to watch for will be the New York Giants, the Pittsburgh Steelers, the Las Vegas Raiders, the Cleveland Browns, and the Los Angeles Rams. Howard will not be a Week 1 starter with a team in 2025, but there is a chance that he could be a backup in the NFL to start also.
