Former president Donald Trump, who is just a month away from the presidential election, made an appearance on the “Bussin’ With The Boys” podcast, hosted by former Nebraska Cornhuskers linebacker Will Compton and former Michigan Wolverines tackle Taylor Lewan.
Lewan and Compton, who both had nine-year-long NFL careers, talked about the current state of football with Trump. One topic of conversation involved the Nebraska Cornhuskers, who are off to a 5-1 start.
Donald Trump had high praise for Nebraska
Compton, an extremely vocal Nebraska fan, was going to have trouble letting the entire interview go by without sticking the Huskers in there somewhere.
Compton asked whether a return to Nebraska’s greatness in the 90s would coincide with a return to what Trump perceives to be the “great America” to which he wants to return.

Trump had high praise for the people of Nebraska, but he also mentioned former Nebraska head coach Tom Osborne. Osborne is still considered one of the greatest coaches in college football history and while he might hold traditional values that would align with Trump, his style of leadership seemed to perplex the former president.
Osborne was stoic and silent as a head coach, yet he still managed to inspire his players to play at the highest level every week. His awe of Osborne’s methods was outlined in an article from Sports Illustrated.
“You had a great football coach for many years who was a silent person,” Trump said.” Very unusual right? You know who I’m talking about?
“So, Tom Osborne was a great coach and he was a silent coach. … Boy, I tell you that guy was a good coach for years and not a ra-ra coach, just a total professional coach. I wonder what he’s like in real life because it seems so unusual right?”
Trump made appearances on several podcasts leading up to the election. The new campaign strategy is being utilized by both parties, but it is hard to see a future in which democratic candidate Kamala Harris makes an appearance on “Bussin’ With The Boys.”
