With the help of offensive genius head coach Mike McDaniel, the Miami Dolphins have become one of the most dominant teams in the NFL this season. They have exhibited the best offense in the NFL and since the return of elite cornerback Jalen Ramsey, the defense has improved to an impressive unit as well. The struggle that any top team struggles with at this point in the season is injuries. Miami is no different and if teams can’t get a push from their players on the field, they turn to creative solutions.
Miami Dolphins in Talks with Former Super Bowl Champion
After another dominant win over the helpless New York Jets, Miami is proving why they are the clear champion of the AFC East but there are always ways to improve the roster. On Wednesday afternoon, it was announced that Miami was in discussions with former All-Pro defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh.
Suh was a generational talent in the trenches and would give Miami and elite pass rusher between the tackles. While he spent last season with the NFL Super Bowl representative Philadelphia Eagles, Suh spent the best years of his long career with the Detroit Lions and with Miami. Suh was drafted with the third pick of the NFL Draft with Detroit in 2010 and was an All-Pro all the way through 2016. Suh was with Miami from 2015 to 2017 in that span.

A potential reunion next?

Reports have stated that there is no definitive contract on the table yet but based on Suh’s clear late career objectives of winning another super bowl, Miami would be a perfect fit for the elite 3-technique defensive tackle. Miami has established arguably the best secondary in the NFL but their defensive line could use some help.
Miami appears to be one of the best teams in the NFL but they close their season out against three of their biggest competitors for a Super Bowl run this season. This week they take on the second best team in the NFC in the Dallas Cowboys who sport one of the consistently best offensive lines in the game.
While no one has ever argued with Suh’s talent, he has been considered a bit of a head case on the field. Suh maintains a reputation as a dirty player and has notoriously earned a bouquet of egregious personal fouls during his time in the league.
One of the star defensive players most memorable moments was on a play against the Green Bay Packers in 2011 when he threw an offensive lineman down and then stomped on his head. Suh was immediately ejected and suspended for a game due to the absurd brutality he showed. That is just one example and one problem that Miami doesn’t want to have to deal wih.
Suh is a tremendously talented player but his presence on the Miami roster could end up helping or hurting the team as it pushes for a Super Bowl berth.
