The NFL was set to have a historical first-ever for their Super Bowl entertainment lineup this year. However, one of the artists they billed had an unforeseen circumstance pop up that caused them to cancel their show.
A historical show was billed for the Super Bowl
The San Francisco 49ers are set to play the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday. The Super Bowl is known for having a lot of musical artists before and during the event. Per the NFL’s website, the league hired Grammy Award-winning DJ Tiësto to be their first in-game DJ for the game:
Tiësto will perform a DJ set prior to the game while the players warm up and fans settle in at Allegiant Stadium on Feb. 11, 2024. He will then stay as the in-game DJ and play during featured breaks within the game, becoming the first superstar DJ to perform throughout the Super Bowl. Portions of the performance will be featured on the Super Bowl LVIII broadcast on CBS and live streamed on the artist’s social channels.
DJ Tiësto had to cancel
However, Tiësto will not be able to perform on Sunday.
According to Benjamin Allbright with KOA Colorado, Tiësto had to cancel due to an “unforeseen family circumstance” days before the game.

Tiësto released a statement
Tiësto posted a message on his X account to announce his cancellation:
Me and my team have been preparing something truly special for months, but a personal family emergency is forcing me to return home Sunday morning. It was a tough decision to miss the game, but family always comes first. Thank you to the @NFL for the collaboration and looking forward to working with them to deliver something incredible together in the future!
