The Denver Broncos have the 12th overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. Will they stay at 12 or try their luck trading for a higher pick in the draft?
Denver Broncos head coach Sean Payton commented on his “realistic” approach to possibly trading up from their 12th overall spot.
According to NFL.com, Coach Sean Payton said Monday at the NFL’s Annual League Meeting that he views trading up in the draft as a “realistic” option.
Payton noted that the club will look at every option, but at this point, it is impossible to know how much it would cost to get into the top five. He noted that the Arizona Cardinals at No. 4 could be a hot trade destination as we get closer to the draft.

Denver Broncos Current Quarterback Situation
Denver’s quarterback situation is currently up in the air. Denver released Russell Wilson, the starting quarterback for the past two seasons. The only quarterbacks listed on the roster are Jarrett Stidham and Ben DiNucci. Both quarterbacks have combined for 5 NFL starts in their careers.
It is safe to say that Denver is looking for a quarterback. The Broncos’ options are open, from adding a veteran to drafting a rookie. Drafting one of the top three quarterbacks will be out of the question, as Chicago, Washington, or New England will draft a quarterback or be unwilling to give up their spot to allow someone else to.
Trading into the fourth spot might be the best option possible.
According to NFL.com, “It’s good to be (Cardinals general manager) Monti (Ossenfort) right now,” Payton said. The question is how much Payton is willing to mortgage the future to get a rookie QB in 2024. For now, Stidham is the potential starter, but Payton declined to say he was in the top position for the job.
Denver’s goal might not be to move into the fourth overall pick but instead move ahead of Minnesota. The Vikings hold a pick just in front of Denver, which is another potential quarterback landing spot.
We will see if Denver jumps the Vikings or makes a big move to get their quarterback of the future.
