Deion Sanders’ 2024 recruiting ranks have taken a nose dive as the Colorado Buffaloes ended their season with eight losses in their final nine games. Sanders lost three players in the span of 24 hours earlier this week after the Buffaloes lost to Utah.
Colorado started the year with much promise, but the team struggled in the Pac-12. Sanders tried to fix the losing streak by demoting coaches on his staff and threatening his players with replacement this offseason.
That didn’t work.
It might have even made things worse, as reports are coming out that Sanders’ demotion of Sean Lewis this season might have cost the Buffaloes a chance at hiring top assistants. They need top assistants to recruit, especially on the offensive line.
Recruiting is looking like an uphill battle for Sanders. After losing recruits over the previous several weeks, Colorado’s ranking has fallen to 64th in recruiting for the 2024 class (They were 60th before the loss to Utah), according to 24/7 Sports. Even worse for Colorado is their recruiting class for offensive linemen.
Sanders threatened to replace his offensive linemen after their struggles in pass protection this season. The Buffaloes have one offensive lineman, three-star offensive tackle Issiah Walker Jr., committed for the 2024 class. Three-star interior offensive lineman Talan Chandler flipped his commitment to Missouri a few weeks ago.
College football fans react to Deion Sanders recruiting class
Colorado’s recruiting class has been getting much attention this week since the self-proclaimed best college football coach’s 4-8 squad has no bowl game to talk about. College Football Report tweeted a post that several schools the Buffaloes are currently behind in recruiting.
Sanders is being out-recruited by California, UNVL, USF, and ECU.
Colorado’s recruiting class is currently ranked #64 in the country according to 247Sports.
