Deion Sanders is one of the most famous Dallas Cowboys of all time. Now the head coach of Colorado, his personality makes him extremely likable and must-see television. After the blowout loss to the San Francisco 49ers in week 5, Sanders went on “Inside the NFL” with Ryan Clark and discussed the current state of the Cowboys.
Deion Sanders On The Current State Of The Dallas Cowboys
Sanders has become known for his assessment of who he considers a “dawg”. Based on his quotes, a “dawg” is a tough player who works hard and plays at a high level. Sanders is seeing a lack of dawgs on the Dallas Cowboys. “The Cowboys have guys that [are] supposed to be dawgs, but…” His sentence trailed off as he shook his head in disappointment and disapproval. Sanders then defended Dak Prescott and said that he thinks he is better than the performance on the field on Sunday night. He did spend time praising the 49ers and Brock Purdy as well noting that their performance was a big reason for the victory on Sunday night.
A Long Season
Sunday night wasn’t good but it is a long season. The Cowboys sit at 3-2 which is far from being out of the playoff picture. There is also plenty of time to right the ship on offense and defense. The bigger issue is what Sanders might be getting at. If the team does not have those “dawgs”, it might make games like this happen. This team might be good when they have a lead and are favored but if they find themselves up against a tough opponent, they might have a tendency to wilt under pressure. Again, it is a long season but even if Sunday night ended in a loss, fans would have liked to see it be more competitive.
Deion Sanders is worried about the Cowboys this year and so are many others. It will be interesting to see if they can recover in week 6 against the Los Angeles Chargers.
