Deion Sanders must devise a strategy to save his future recruiting classes after news came out Sunday that a highly-rated recruit decommitted from the Colorado Buffaloes program.
The news came a day after the Buffaloes lost their fourth-straight game of the season. Sanders apologized to fans after the loss at home. The 4-6 team has no margin for error if they want to make a bowl game in Sanders’ inaugural season.
Sanders might not have much margin for error when it comes to recruiting.
Deion Sanders loses a wide receiver recruit
According to Blake Baumgartner with ESPN, 2025 recruit Winston Watkins Jr. decommited from Colorado:
“Deion Sanders and Colorado‘s 2025 class took a hit Sunday with wide receiver Winston Watkins Jr.‘s decision to decommit.
Watkins, No. 87 in the 2025 ESPN 300, was the first player to commit to Sanders at Colorado, announcing his pledge to the program on Dec. 4, 2022 — the day Sanders was hired.”
Sanders has frequently said during the Buffaloes’ losing streak that Colorado needs better players on the field. While that message might attract players looking for playing time, it appears not everyone is impressed with how things are going in Boulder.
