Deion Sanders and the Colorado Buffaloes struggled in the 2023 season. Some are predicting those struggles to continue. In a survey of Pac-12 coaches and coordinators, many of them said that they expect Colorado to struggle in 2024.
Deion Sanders, Colorado Buffaloes Struggle In 2024?
The Athletic ran a huge story on the Colorado program. In that piece, they interviewed a bunch of coaches in the conference. They are not as high on the program as Sanders and some of his players are. “It’s gonna get dark for Colorado,” one coach said. There are a couple of reasons for this. First, Sanders will not have the ability to make unlimited cuts this season. That is only permitted for first-year head coaches. Second, the team moves to the Big 12. While some of the powerhouses are leaving, many are still there. It is going to be an uphill battle.
Tough Week For The Program
The Buffaloes lost three recruits in a matter of days including two quarterback prospects. Their offensive coordinator is leaving for the San Diego State job and the whole midseason playcalling switch makes that awkward for the next person. The good news for the program is it seems like quarterback Shedeur Sanders and wide receiver/cornerback Travis Hunter will return. They simply need to fill in the roster around them but so far Deion Sanders is having issues doing that.
When they started 3-0, everyone wanted this to be a quick rebuild. However, we are seeing that this may be a multi-year process. They won four games this year after only winning one the previous year. That is something to build on.
