Deion Sanders and the Colorado Buffaloes are feeling the pain of the transfer portal. Many starters from last year have already announced their decision to enter the transfer portal and another promising player has followed suit. Talented freshman quarterback Kasen Weisman announced he is entering the transfer portal.

Deion Sanders, Colorado Buffaloes Lose QB Kasen Weisman
Weisman was originally a Kansas commit before Sanders and his team flipped him to Colorado. The former three-star recruit had over 30 offers coming out of high school but decided to come to Boulder. It only took one year for him to look for another program. Weisman did not see the field in 2023 most likely due to the presence of Shedeur Sanders and the fact that he was only a freshman. With Sanders likely coming back for 2024, Weisman must have decided to look elsewhere.
What Is Colorado’s Long-Term QB Plan?
While Shedeur is the short-term plan, the long-term plan is murkier. Not only has Weisman now left but the top quarterback recruits from the 2024 and 2025 classes have already decommitted. As Sanders looks to try and build on the 4-8 season, he is going to have to work extra hard to sustain success. The flip side of the argument is that Sanders found a lot of talent in the portal last year and could do the same thing again.
This is not the ideal week for Sanders and his staff. However, there is a lot of offseason left but Sanders sure has his work out for him if he is going to improve on the 2023 season.
