Kirk Cousins has been the hypothetical trade target for many teams this season. As the Vikings keep losing, the rumors will only get stronger. ESPN’s Dan Orlovsky thinks that the Cleveland Browns should call the Vikings about Cousins.
Dan Orlovsky Says Cleveland Browns Should Call About Kirk Cousins
On Get Up today, Orlovsky pleaded with the Browns to see what it would take to get Cousins. Let’s take away the quarterback position for a minute. The Browns have a complete team. Even after the loss of Nick Chubb, the running game still looks great. Amari Cooper is a reliable receiver for any quarterback. Despite yesterday’s performance, the defense looks dominant behind Myles Garrett. The only question is the quarterback. Deshaun Watson has been injured and disappointing when he plays. The backups have been uninspiring but the rest of this team is having too good of a season to waste.
Unlikely To Happen
This is unlikely to happen for a couple of reasons. The first is that Cousins would have to waive a no-trade clause and all indications are that he does not want to do that. Second, the Browns committed to Watson. They gave up a king’s ransom for him and paid him a bunch. Trading for another quarterback, even if only for a year, would send some type of signal that the team did not believe in Watson. Whether they like it or not, the team has their wagon hitched to Watson. The hope for the Cleveland Browns is that they can get enough out of the quarterback position to keep them afloat and let the defense do the rest.
Despite pleas from Orlovsky and many others, it is unlikely that a Cousins trade will happen this season. Still, it is something to watch as the trade deadline gets closer.
