Dalvin Cook is one of the many running backs that are available for teams to sign. After bein released by the Minnesota Vikings, Cook has been on the market for a couple of weeks now. New rumors pop up every day of which team should sign him but Cook is lobbying to go to an AFC contender, the Miami Dolphins.
Dalvin Cook Wants To Go To The Miami Dolphins
During a recent interview with SiriusXM NFL Radio, Cook had this to say about going to Miami.
“Yeah, it’s an exciting situation to go into when you got guys that can stretch the field on the outside,” Cook said. “I think that defense is pretty solid to me. Tua [Tagovailoa], when he’s out on the field, they got a winning a record. As a running back, you look for a certain scheme and I know the scheme that I’m good in, and that’s outside zone, and that’s what the Miami Dolphins run. So it’s like, you know, it’d be a perfect fit. And the roster, like you said, speaks for itself.”
He loves the Miami offense and definitely sees himself being a great fit. He went to college at Florida State so it makes sense that he would want to be in the state of Florida.
What’s The Hold Up?
This question could be asked for many running backs currently on the market. Most likely, the hold up is money. The players are looking for some long term guarantees while teams are looking for shorter contracts that don’t tie up the salary cap on the running back position. I’m sure if you asked the Dolphins, they would love to have Cook on their team but maybe not for the price that Cook is asking. It seems teams are okay playing the waiting game and seeing how the market shakes out.
Will Dalvin Cook ultimately end up on the Miami Dolphins? He sure seems to feel like he is the best fit for that offense and now it is up to the Dolphins to decide whether the price tag is worth it.
