The New York Jets have officially released running back Dalvin Cook ahead of Week 18, meaning he can sign with a team and compete in the NFL Playoffs. With the regular season wrapping up, there are going to be teams that are lining up to add a four-time Pro Bowl running back to their roster for the most important time of the season.
Dalvin Cook has had a miserable season for the Jets as he has just 67 carries for 214 yards (3.2 yards per attempt) and did not record a touchdown while adding 15 catches for 78 yards (5.2 yards per reception). Which teams are the best fit for him to get a spark in the playoffs and help take their team over the hump?
Dalvin Cook Landing Spot #1: Dallas Cowboys
The Dallas Cowboys have an issue at the running back position as they do not have great depth at the running back position this season. Tony Pollard has seemingly hit a wall at this point and adding an experienced running back like Cook to be the backup would be great.
This would be a chance for Pollard to get some more breaks instead of being the bell cow running back and Cook adds a different style of running back to the team. This fit makes sense to give the Cowboys another weapon offensively heading into the playoffs.
Dalvin Cook Landing Spot #2: Baltimore Ravens
It feels like no team has been more hurt at the running back position this year than the Baltimore Ravens. With a handful of running back injuries, why not go and grab a veteran running back to rotate in? After Keaton Mitchell suffered a knee injury a few weeks ago, their positional depth is weak.
This would help and gives Cook an extra week to learn the play book as the Ravens have a bye after clinching the top seed in the AFC. This feels like a Ravens move to make.
Dalvin Cook Landing Spot #3: Cleveland Browns
The Cleveland Browns have been a good running team as they are 11th in the NFL with 119.6 rushing yards per game and have an incredible amount of injuries throughout the season. With Nick Chubb out for the season and depending on Jerome Ford as the team’s leading rusher, this feels like a perfect opportunity for the Browns to add some depth.
Joe Flacco and Dalvin Cook in Cleveland, just like everyone chalked it up before Week 1.
