The Dallas Cowboys are now relying on Mike McCarthy to call the plays. After moving on from Kellen Moore, McCarthy will now call in the plays like he did when he was in Green Bay. Many are wondering how this transition will go as the offense was good under Moore and McCarthy’s offenses sputtered in the final years with the Packers. Guard Zack Martin gave a confusing comment when talking about the playcalling.
Dallas Cowboys Zack Martin On Mike McCarthy Playcalling
It’s always going to be too early to judge but the players seem to be liking it. Martin had this to say in a recent interview.
“It’s more of an attitude deal. That’s the best way I can describe it. The plays aren’t going to change. We’re going to run our inside zone, outside zone. I think it’s just the mindset and attitude we’re going to bring and that edge I talked about.”
I like the positivity but this is a really confusing comment. He says a lot but also says nothing at all.
What Does “Edge” In Playcalling Mean?
So McCarthy’s attitude in playcalling is different? Was that the problem from last year? It seems they are going to call the same plays as Moore just with more attitude. I actually think Mike McCarthy is a good coach but I would not describe him as someone who brings a lot of “attitude” to a team. This comment is just fluff. It really isn’t saying anything other than hyping up the coach in the offseason. This isn’t uncommon for this time of year but the comment still leaves me and many others confused.
The Dallas Cowboys are hoping that Mike McCarthy can push the team to a deep playoff run. If not, McCarthy might find himself on the hot seat.
