NFL Week 9 has a lot of good games to offer but none may have the anticipation that the Dallas Cowboys and Philadelphia Eagles have. It is an NFC East clash with the Eagles sitting at 7-1 and the Cowboys at 5-2. This is the first of two important meetings this season between these teams.
Realistically, Dallas has to win this game to keep their hopes of a division title alive. Can they do that? We will take a closer look at what their chances are.

Dallas Cowboys Key Stats
All eyes are on the Cowboys in this game. If they do not win this game, they arguably concede the NFC East to the Eagles.
Both teams have elite offenses. They are second and third in points per game. However, there is one key area where Dallas separates themselves.
That would be their defense. Dallas is third in the NFL in total yards allowed per game (287.4). Plus, the Cowboys are fourth in points allowed per game (17.1).
One key member of that defense is CB DaRon Bland. He has four interceptions this season, including one last week against the Los Angeles Rams that he returned for a touchdown. Of those five interceptions, three of them have been returned for touchdowns.
The main concern here is that the Cowboys have not been tested yet this season against a talented opponent. All of their wins have come against teams currently under .500. They have only faced one team currently over .500 this season.
That team was the San Francisco 49ers in a Week 5 Sunday Night Football clash. However, Dallas came out flat in this game. They got blown out 42-10 on national television. This game against the Eagles could be a good chance for redemption or reveal that Dallas is not quite ready to take down elite teams yet.
Philadelphia Eagles Key Stats
The Eagles have a 7-1 record but arguably win in a much uglier fashion than the Cowboys. In their seven wins this season, the average margin of victory is just over eight points. So, how do they secure these wins?
The answer is their offensive line. It is one of the best in the NFL that has made headlines around the league for the Eagles’ “Brotherly Shove” play. They have used variations of this play to find success in short fourth-down conversions.
Just how successful has this been? The Eagles rank second in the NFL in fourth down conversion percentage. However, they are perfect at home with fourth-down conversions this season.
Game Prediction
I think the Eagles’ offense will be the difference in this game. Dallas has not faced a team with the offensive talent like the Philadelphia Eagles and may have trouble containing star wide receivers A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith.
Ultimately, Dallas’ redemption will have to wait for the rematch later this season. I am taking the Eagles here.
Final Pick
Philadelphia Eagles -3 (-108)
