It is still months before the Dallas Cowboys report to training camp in Oxnard, California, but superstar edge rusher Micah Parsons remains without the contract extension he wants from the team.
On Tuesday, Parsons appeared to add more fuel to his stance about getting a new contract done before the start of training camp, perhaps as a means to put added pressure on the Cowboys.
Via y Calvin Watkins of The Dallas Morning News:
“You really see a lot of players struggle, guys aren’t participating in camp and get off to slow starts,” Parsons said Tuesday night. “I don’t want to get off to no slow starts. I want to hit the ground running and establish ourselves in this league and get some wins early in the season and be in rhythm. It’s going to be extremely important to get going and lead these guys.”
Micah Parsons in Dallas Cowboys offseason workouts despite unfinished contract talks

Also on Tuesday, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones provided a seemingly stern message about Dallas not backing down on the figure they already have for Parsons, who is a four-time Pro Bowler and a former NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year.
“I don’t need to adjust, so to speak,” Jones said.
Despite the two sides still not on common ground when it comes to the contract talks, Parsons said that he intends to be with the team during the offseason workouts.
So far in his career in the NFL, Parsons, who will be turning 26 years old in May, has 52.5 sacks and 172 solo tackles through 63 games.
