Lil Wayne recently appeared as a guest on Travis Hunter’s YouTube channel and the interview was nothing short of scintillating. The renowned rapper also discussed how he came to know about Hunter in the first place, and apparently the credit goes to his eldest son, Dwayne Michael Carter III.
Speaking to Hunter, Lil Wayne narrated that his son chose Travis Hunter’s jersey number 12 for his soccer jersey when he made the school team. Lil Wayne has four children, of which Dwayne Michael Carter III is second, and the only kid he shares with Sarah Vivan.
“This boy said, ‘Travis Hunter.’ I said, ‘What?’ He said, ‘Yeah, Travis Hunter, that’s my favorite player.’ I said ‘What does he play, Girls?’… I’m like ‘What he play?’ I’m like ‘What Travis?’. He was like ‘He [Hunter] plays everything,’ I was like ‘What do you mean he plays everything? He’s like, ‘He plays football, but he plays everything,’ and I was like, let me check him out, that was the beginning.” Lil Wayne said to Travis Hunter on ‘The Travis Hunter Show’ on his YouTube channel.
Lil Wayne was all in praise of Travis Hunter, going on about the wide receiver’s personality and clear aims. 21-year-old Hunter played college football for the Jackson State Tigers and the Colorado Buffaloes. In his senior year, the wide receiver/cornerback managed a total of 96 receptions for 1,258 yards, scoring 15 touchdowns for the team.

Lil Wayne Initially Thought That Ja Morant Was His Son’s Favorite Player
It looks like Lil Wayne really had no idea as to if Travis Hunter even existed before his son made mention of him as his talented player. In the same appearance on Travis Hunter’s show, the ‘Lollipop’ rapper remarked that he initially thought that his son was talking about Ja Morant who also wears a no. 12 jersey.

Lil Wayne’s eldest son apparently idolizes Travis Hunter so much that he chooses to honor the player through his soccer game. Hunter is expected to be one of the top prospects in the upcoming NFL draft with numerous teams showing interest in him.

However, Travis Hunter has a unique request for any team that chooses to draft him. Hunter apparently wants to play in both the wide receiver and cornerback positions, just like he did with the Colorado Buffaloes. It is still unclear as to whether teams will be open to allowing Hunter to play in such a dual position as he wants to.
