The Dallas Cowboys could be interested in a top QB
The Dallas Cowboys seem to be set at quarterback. Quarterback Dak Prescott was given a vote of confidence after the Cowboys lost to the San Francisco 49ers on the road in the Divisional Round. A new report states the Cowboys might be eyeing a top quarterback prospect in the 2023 NFL Draft.
Prescott didn’t have a great season. The two-time Pro Bowl athlete threw 23 touchdowns to 15 interceptions for the season. Prescott had a great Wild Card round game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers when he threw four touchdown passes with no interceptions. But he had a choke job against the 49ers, and his two interceptions cost the Cowboys a chance to advance to the NFC Championship Game.
“Intrigued” by a top prospect
The Cowboys could look for Prescott’s replacement in this year’s draft. According to Mike Fisher with Sports Illustrated, the Cowboys planned to take a quarterback in the 2023 NFL Draft. And it could be Ohio State quarterback CJ Stroud:
“But in Dallas’ search for either a backup to Prescott or an heir to him, a revelation. …
The Cowboys find themselves “intrigued” by Ohio State quarterback C.J. Stroud, an NFL source tells CowboysSI.com.
“I don’t know the ‘how,”’ the source said. “But (Dallas is) absolutely intrigued by Stroud.”
What would the Dallas Cowboys give up for Stroud?
Stroud is considered one of the top three quarterbacks in the draft class. Bryce Young, Will Levis, and Stroud are thought to be likely picked within the top ten in the first round. For the Dallas Cowboys to nab Stroud, they must make some serious trades. That would certainly be a shocking development with Prescott in Dallas and a coaching staff banking on big things for next season.
