The Dallas Cowboys and the Philadelphia Eagles are in the top tier of the NFC Conference this year. After the Eagles made the Super Bowl last season, many are putting them as far and above favorites. However, one Cowboys player, Demarcus Lawrence, doesn’t see a huge gap between them and the reigning NFC champions.
Dallas Cowboys Demarcus Lawrence Confident In 2023 Team
While the Eagles took the league by storm last year, the Cowboys kept up in the standings. Usually, when a team wins the first eight games of the season, the gap in the division becomes very wide. Not the case in 2022 and Lawrence thinks the gap is not all that big in 2023. “I don’t feel like it’s a huge gap at all,” Lawrence told The Associated Press’ Rob Maadi recently on the AP Pro Football Podcast. Lawrence thinks they are right there and could easily take the division crown away from the Eagles.
The Cowboys Have Definitely Improved
Dallas made some offseason moves that will help the team. Brandin Cooks is a great second option behind CeeDee Lamb. Tony Pollard will become the featured back and the expectation of giving Ezekiel Elliott carries is gone. The defense has one of the great young stars in Micah Parsons and they also traded for Stephon Gilmore to help the secondary. While the Eagles may be getting all the flowers, the Cowboys are not a joke of a team. There is an easy pathway to upsetting the Eagles this season.
This is going to be one of the great division battles in the NFL. The other two teams, the Giants and Commanders, are no scrubs either with the Giants looking to return to the playoffs themselves. Can the Cowboys finally break through and make it to a Super Bowl?
