The Dallas Cowboys have had great regular season success thanks to Dak Prescott. He has been a steady presence under center and has led some of the most prolific offenses in the league. In the playoffs, however, Prescott and the Cowboys have consistently come up short. In some cases, the losses have been heartbreaking. As Prescott enters his 30s, he is starting to feel the pressure to win it all.
Dallas Cowboys Dak Prescott Feeling The Pressure
The Cowboys have had consecutive 12-win seasons and Prescott himself has been showered with awards since he took over the starting job for America’s team. Prescott is aware of the rising stakes and talked about them in an interview with the team’s official site.
“One thousand percent,” Dak responded Saturday when asked by Nick Eatman of the team’s website if he feels an urgency to win. “Just understanding injuries and what I’ve been [through] throughout my career and understanding that you don’t have forever to play this game. I’m blessed for every moment that I get. Just trying to take it with a sense of urgency.”
While playing quarterback into your late 30s is commonplace in today’s league, Prescott recognizes that it is not a guarantee. The Cowboys have to take advantage of this season especially if they hope to even get to an NFC Championship game.
2023 Expectations
The good news for the Cowboys is the NFC is the weaker of the two conferences. The bad news is they are in the toughest division by far in the NFC. The defending conference champion Eagles loom large and the Giants are not a pushover. If Sam Howell is at least decent the Commanders will also be a tough out. While things will have to go horribly wrong for the Cowboys to miss the playoffs, winning the division would give them a massive advantage.
Can the Dallas Cowboys and Dak Prescott finally get over the hump? They added Brandin Cooks and Stephon Gilmore so they are going all-in on this season. If it doesn’t work, expect big changes in Dallas.
