After going 2-0 in their first two games of the new season, the Dallas Cowboys had their first taste of defeat on Sunday at the hands of the Arizona Cardinals. It was a surprise loss for Dallas, who was expected to secure a win against a struggling Cards side.
Naturally, fans were quick to forget about the Cowboys‘ strong start as the pitchforks started coming out. A lot of them were aimed in the direction of Dak Prescott.
LeSean McCoy Rips Into Dallas Cowboys
One man who came out with some heavy criticism of Dallas after seeing them struggle mightily against Arizona is former All-Pro running back LeSean McCoy. The ex-Philadelphia Eagles and Buffalo Bills star believes that the Cowboys are doing themselves a disservice by not utilizing Prescott the way he ought to be used:
“They were super conservative… why are they super conservative?” McCoy asked, via JPAFootball on Twitter. “They don’t have a rookie quarterback. They don’t trust Dak Prescott. If you’re gonna pay a QB $160 something million dollars and you don’t trust him to throw the ball without making turnovers — you can’t win like that.”

It’s not as if McCoy is letting Prescott off the hook here, though. The ex-RB turned FS1 analyst was also critical of Dak’s performance against the Cardinals — one that saw him complete 25-of-40 passes for 249 yards, one touchdown, and one turnover.
To be fair, you can’t really say that Dallas’ concerns regarding Prescott’s turnovers are unwarranted. The two-time Pro Bowl quarterback currently holds the unwanted record of being last season’s most turnover-prone QB after he logged an NFL-high and career-high 15 interceptions last term.
As McCoy pointed out, however, the Cowboys have to live and die by Prescott. Unless they intend to move on from him as their cornerstone quarterback — something that does not seem to be in their plans anytime soon — then Dallas will just need to trust him to get the job done.
