It’s only natural that Dak Prescott has been on the receiving end of a lot of criticism following the Dallas Cowboys’ stunning postseason exit at the hands of the Green Bay Packers. It’s the quarterback who always gets the short end of the stick, and it was no different for Prescott after their heartbreaking Wild Card Round defeat.
This is despite the fact that the three-time Pro Bowl QB raked in the second-most amount of votes in the recent NFL MVP race. Fans really have a short memory, right?
Jake Ferguson Vocal on Dak Prescott, Dallas Cowboys Mindset Heading Into 2024
Cowboys tight end Jake Ferguson is the latest to come to his quarterback’s defense. According to the 25-year-old, who himself is coming off a Pro Bowl-worthy campaign, Prescott has a short memory, too:
“I know Dak is ready for the next season, that’s all you can do,” Ferguson said on Wednesday’s episode of NFL Total Access, via Kevin Patra of NFL.com. “You can’t look back and you know, have any sort of just ‘Oh, I made a bad play, so we lost.’ No, it’s just on to the next, it’s over with, so we played that game, clock’s zero, it’s time to move on to the next week. We’ve got to get ready for this OTA session coming up, and then also fall camp and just get ready so if we do get in this situation down the road again, where we take advantage and we aren’t really looking back, we’re just going straight through the wall.”
Ferguson isn’t downplaying Dallas’ shortcomings this past season. However, he’s more than ready to put it behind him. It’s now a matter of learning from their mistakes, which is likely the same type of mindset Prescott has taken on amid all the negativity.
What Ferguson is sure of, though, is that Dak and the rest of the Cowboys are going to be back with a vengeance in 2024. They will be playing with a chip on their shoulder and with something to prove, so the rest of the league better be ready.
