Who would have thought that the Indianapolis Colts would be right in the mix of the AFC playoff picture? After a rough start to the season and losing starting quarterback Anthony Richardson for the season to injury, many were ready to give up on the team. However, Shane Steichen and company have found ways to win games and enter Week 13 action with a 6-5 record.
Unfortunately for the Colts, Jonathan Taylor will be sidelined for a couple of weeks due to a hand injury that he suffered last week. Taylor had just started coming on strong for the Colts, but thankfully the offense has Zack Moss to fall back on.
Moss was a relatively unknown commodity coming into the 2023 campaign. He had shown flashes with the Buffalo Bills, but had never put everything together. To begin the season, with Taylor out on IR to start the year, Moss was one of the most dangerous running backs in the entire NFL.
Now that Taylor is back out due to injury, Moss is ready to resume where he left off as the team’s feature back. The Colts are very confident with him leading the way out of the backfield.
Zack Moss Makes Bold Comments Before Colts Face Titans
Prior to this week’s key AFC South rivalry matchup with the Titans, Moss did not hold back on his thoughts of taking back over as the team’s starting running back. He’s ready and he feels he has already proven his ability.
“I’ve already kind of done it before. Now’s the time to do it again. That’s why you prepare every day — you never know what’s going to happen in this league.”
So far this season in 10 games played, Moss has carried the football 141 times for 672 yards and five touchdowns. Those numbers average out to an impressive 4.8 yards per carry. Moss has also caught 18 passes for 138 yards and another score.
Needless to say, the Colts have to feel good about their replacement for Taylor. At just 25 years old, Moss is also showcasing his skills ahead of his upcoming free agency. He is playing his way into a major pay raise.
All of that being said, the Colts will need their confident running back to come through with a strong performance this week. Moving to 7-5 would put them in a very good position to get into the postseason. Moss is ready for that challenge and it will be interesting to see what he can do this week.
