‘Colorado Football Easy’: Buffaloes Considered One Of The Most Hated College Football Programs Following 9-4 Season

Last season, the Colorado football team went 9-4, finishing with the fourth-best record in the expanded Big 12. They went 4-8 the year prior, including just one win in conference play. In 2022, they won just one game, which matched their 123-year program low. Over the last two years, the exponential increase in wins has come on the heels of hiring head coach Deion Sanders. Sanders, alongside his son and quarterback Shedeur Sanders and two-way superstar Travis Hunter, has turned Colorado into one of the top teams in the Big 12. However, not everyone is a fan of the Colorado Buffaloes football team.

On Thursday, one prominent college football influencer asked social media which college football team is the most hated heading into the 2025 season. The Buffaloes became a popular choice among fans.

According to Josh Pate of CBS Sports:

CFB’s most hated team is ______

Last year, Colorado football eclipsed eight wins for just the second time in 20 years. Meanwhile, Superstar corner/receiver Travis Hunter posted an unprecedented season while winning the second Heisman Trophy Award in program history (Rashaan Salaam in 1994). While Hunter dominated and quarterback Shedeur Sanders led the Big 12 in passing yards, completions, attempts, touchdowns, and rating, Colorado did not pick up a ranked win. Although the Buffs continue their march to national relevancy under head coach Deion Sanders, many fans believe much of their media attention is undeserving.

On Thursday, fans put the Colorado football program on blast when asked which team was the most hated. Notably, Colorado was boat raced in their season finale, losing to the BYU Cougars by double digits in the Alamo Bowl. Nevertheless, despite finishing the season ranked in the AP poll, fans were quick to jump on Colorado heading into the 2025 summer:

I think Ryan Day has somewhat turned Ohio state into a popular villain and people love to hate Deion and CU as well. https://t.co/qSTzpNPmEf pic.twitter.com/w0ZXiG4Giy

Colorado easily. Wins 9 games after people all offseason said they wouldn’t even make a bowl game and all sudden their the most overhyped team ever after winning 4 games the previous season. Goalpost always gets moved against Colorado.

According to Grok, its Colorado. Since when have they been relevant enough to be the most hated? As a Duck fan, its easily UW. Huck the Fuskies!

    — LacamasMonster (@Lacamas_Monster) March 6, 2025

Right now probably Colorado. Overall probably Miami, Notre Dame or Alabama
