Since Sefo Liufau’s second year with Colorado football in 2014, the Buffaloes have failed to house a quarterback who threw for over 3,000 yards in a single season. In 2023, with the hiring of head coach Deion Sanders, the Colorado Buffaloes added his son and former Jackson State Tigers superstar passer Shedeur Sanders. In two seasons, the younger Sanders became the program’s single-season leader in passing touchdowns and yards, leading the former Pac-12 squad to their first bowl games since 2020.
On the heels of his success, Sanders finds himself a top prospect in the 2025 NFL Draft. Late last month, Sanders opted to skip workouts at the 2025 Scouting Combine and instead focus on the interview process. Although some sources reported Sanders did not come across as elegant as most, one Cleveland Browns beat writer shares that the AFC North franchise loves the former Colorado football star’s personality.
Cleveland Browns Loving Former Colorado Football QB Shedeur Sanders

According to Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com
The Browns first met with Sanders one-on-one at the East-West Shrine Bowl in January and came away impressed. They didn’t find him to be arrogant or brash but confident and engaging. They liked all of the good things his Hall of Fam dad poured into him but appreciated that he’s his own man. He exhibited the excellent leadership qualities they’re looking for in a quarterback, as did Ward, whom they also like.
Kay Cabot continues, noting that the Cleveland Browns again interviewed legendary Colorado football quarterback Shedeur Sanders at the 2025 NFL Combine, where he further displayed his leadership qualities. The Browns will visit Sanders during his Pro Day in Colorado and could push for a private workout with the former Heisman Trophy Award finalist.
Per NFL Draft Buzz, Sanders grades as a top ten pick and is the second quarterback prospect in the 2025 NFL Draft behind fellow passer Cam Ward. An elite passer, Sanders is the all-time FBS leader in pass completion percentage.
Sanders Has Program Defining Year in 2025

Last season, Colorado football received a historic season from quarterback Shedeur Sanders. The passer led the Big 12 in completions (353), attempts (477), passing yards (4,134), passer rating (168.2), and passing touchdowns (37). He finished eighth in Heisman Trophy Award voting, while his teammate, two-way superstar Travis Hunter, earned the distinction.
In his four-year college career, two with Colorado and two with the Jackson State Tigers, Sanders threw for 14,327 yards, 134 touchdowns, and 27 interceptions. His 71.8% completion percentage is the best in FBS history, with a minimum of 875 pass attempts.
