Entering this weekend, the Colorado football team will clash with a ranked Kansas State Wildcats while eyeing their first five-win season since 2019. Earning votes in the AP Top 25 Poll in back-to-back weeks, the Colorado Buffaloes would likely be ranked with a massive home win against KSU on Saturday. It will be an arduous task for Colorado, currently sitting as a four-point underdog against a K-State backfield featuring quarterback Avery Johnson and running back Dylan Edwards.
Edwards, a top-four receiver and rusher for the Wildcats this season, joined the team this offseason after transferring from the Buffaloes. Heading to Saturday’s conference tilt, Colorado football head coach Deion Sanders continues to get buried with Dylan Edwards’s questions, finally hitting a breaking point on Tuesday. Sanders joked about all the Edwards-centric questions while praising his former player for their relationship despite the latter leaving the program last offseason.
Colorado Football HC Deion Sanders Talks Dylan Edwards and KSU
According to sports reporter Tyler King Sports of the @DenverGazette:
Deion Sanders shoots down the notion this week is the #CUBuffs vs. Dylan Edwards: “We ain’t playing against Dylan Edwards, we’re playing against a darn good football team. I love the young man. Dylan made a tremendous choice for he and his family, and I support that 100%. I just don’t want him to perform well against us, but I want him to perform well against every other team.”
Colorado football leadman Deion Sanders made it abundantly clear that he has unwavering respect for Kansas State Wildcats running back Dylan Edwards, who played for the bench boss last season. Edwards, a fringe five-star prospect in the class of 2023, committed to the Colorado Buffaloes to start his college career, picking the then-Pac-12 team over KSU, Arizona, Oklahoma, and Nebraska, among others. As a freshman, Edwards landed with Colorado during Coach Prime’s inaugural season, totaling 620 yards and five touchdowns. However, he entered the transfer portal last offseason.
Coach Deion Sanders also emphasized his appreciation for Edwards leaving Colorado and putting his focus on further developing his football career. With Kansas State this year, the running back has posted 238 yards and three touchdowns. Edwards will get a crack at his former team on Saturday, with both teams owning a 4-1 record. Unlike Colorado football, the Wildcats have already lost in conference play.
