This weekend, a video surfaced on social media showing Colin Kaepernick’s Foundation, Know Your Rights Camp, handing out hot meals to people in New York.
Colin Kaepernick has a foundation
Per GH Media, the former San Francisco 49ers quarterback asked for donations for his foundation in November:
“Kaepernick had one promotion near to his heart Tuesday, and that was for the Know Your Rights Camp campaign. Kaepernick posted a story on his Instagram with the hashtag “#GIVINGTUESDAY” and asked his followers to learn about and donate to Know Your Rights Camp.
According to the Know Your Rights Camp website, their mission is to help the well-being of Black and Brown communities:
“Our mission is to advance the liberation and well-being of Black and Brown communities through education, self-empowerment, mass-mobilization and the creation of new systems that elevate the next generation of change leaders.”
The program has ten points on people’s rights, including the right to be free, healthy, and brilliant”
Know Your Rights Camp fed a lot of people in New York recently
The organization appears to be putting donor money to good use. Per a caption of a video posted on Know Your Rights Camp’s Instagram, the organization teamed up with a few businesses to feed people:
On last Sunday, KYRC teamed up with @100Suits and distributed hundreds of hot meals in #Queens, #NewYork. Demonstrating our holistic approach to supporting communities, we sourced the meals from a local Black-owned establishment, specifically @thedoorrestaurant.
The atmosphere was filled with positivity and smiles. Our heartfelt gratitude goes out to all the volunteers who participated in the giveaway, as well as to everyone who consistently supports our cause.

It’s great to see Kaepernick give back
For people interested in helping Know Your Rights Camp, you can donate to the organization on their website. They’ll accept money even when it’s not #GivingTuesday. It’s nice to see Kaepernick’s foundation giving back to the country in a big way.
