Colin Kaepernick has been drawing the attention of NFL fans everywhere recently. He even has the attention of the former President of the United States Donald Trump. Trump shocked reporters when he said that he would like to see the former quarterback should be back in the NFL.
Donald Trump’s Thoughts
In his own words, the former President said, “Frankly, I’d love to see Kaepernick come in, if he’s good enough, but I don’t want to see him come in because somebody thinks it’s a good PR move. If he’s good enough, he will be in.”
Trump also mentioned that he believes that New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft would be interested in hiring Kaepernick if they thought he could be an asset. A lot of people found this response to be shocking since Trump has not been a fan of the former quarterback because of kneeling during the National Anthem.
Colin Kaepernick’s Journey
The storied quarterback has been trying to make his way back into the NFL in 2023. After New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers went out for the season with a torn Achilles, Kaepernick penned a letter to the team asking to join their practice squad, shocking NFL fans. He was ultimately turned down the job, however, furthering his journey back into the league.
Kaepernick’s attempts back into professional football did not stop there, though, as he then met with XFL owner Dwayne Johnson to discuss playing in the league. Kaepernick ended up walking away from the offer since it did not offer the payment that the NFL does, angering fans all around. Since then, Kaepernick has been added to the negotiation list of the CFL team, the B.C. Lions. It is unclear what the former San Francisco 49ers star will do from here, but if the past is any indicator, he will most likely turn down this offer as well.
