Former San Francisco 49ers QB earns an honor
According to Paul Grein with Billboard.com, Kaepernick will be honored by The Gordon Parks Foundation‘s Annual Awards Dinner in May. They will celebrate Kaepernick’s work in Social Justice:
Athlete and activist Colin Kaepernick, civil rights activist and former chairman of the NAACP Myrlie Evers-Williams and mixed-media artist Mickalene Thomas have been added to the roster of honorees at The Gordon Parks Foundation’s Annual Awards Dinner, which will take place on May 21 at Cipriani 42nd St. in New York City.
Kaepernick, holder of the all-time NFL record for most rushing yards in a game by a quarterback, took a knee during the playing of “The Star Spangled Banner” in 2016 to bring attention to systemic oppression against Black and brown people. Since then, he has founded and helped to fund three organizations – Know Your Rights Camp, Kaepernick Media, and Kaepernick Publishing – that seek to advance the liberation of Black and brown people.
Social Justice was important to photographer Gordon Parks. Much of Park’s artwork was devoted to highlighting civil rights. Kaepernick should be excited to be incredible on a list of honorees.
Kaepernick spent the early part of the 2023 fall trying to find a spot in the NFL for this season. He was unable to find employment as an NFL quarterback this season. Kaepernick recently spoke at a Know Your Rights Camp event in Houston.

Why, he sucks
He’s like Al Bundy. He sucked at football, and now he sells shoes for a living. Even his hometown of Turlock, California has disowned him..
There is something so wrong with america when we can take a man who will not stand up and say the pledge allegiance. And make him a hero or honor him in anyway
He’s been a joke since birth. Just think about it his own birth parents disowned him.
Just another public figure gets punished for speaking up about equal and civil rights. Only in America! Without a doubt! One of these old days this too shall pass! DM
