Former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick has been a prevalent topic in the NFL world even though he hasn’t been in the league for many years. He first made headlines in 2016 for taking a knee during the National Anthem to protest against police brutality, which caused him to become one of the most infamous people in the NFL. While some seem to push away the former quarterback’s message, Kaepernick has just become the cover star for GQ Germany for his worldwide movement.
Colin Kaepernick Becomes GQ Germany Cover Star
The former 49ers quarterback’s message has made its way into GQ Germany, who wrote a story on Kaepernick, calling him “the modern superhero.” In the post on Instagram, the company talks about how he turned away half of the country while waking up the rest of the world with his silent gesture.

GQ Germany Cover
Here is the translated version of the cover:
With a gesture of silent protest, he turned half the country against him and woke up the rest of the world. As a quarterback for the San Francisco 49ers, he kneeled while the National Anthem was played to sign against racist police violence in the United States. his career ended after that, but his protest is still relevant and shockingly current to this day.
Kaepernick’s Message
Kaepernick’s message has been relevant to this day, and many think that it is a big reason why he has not been accepted back into the NFL. The former quarterback made headlines earlier during the 2023 season when he wrote a letter to the New York Jets asking to join their practice squad after veteran Aaron Rodgers suffered a season-ending Achilles injury. He was a part of several rumors speculating that teams who lost their starting quarterback due to injury could potentially sign him, but none of them prevailed.
What do you think about Kaepernick’s message, and do you think that he can still have a shot at coming back to the league?
