The Cleveland Browns will feel confident about their chances of making the Super Bowl after finishing 2023 in the playoff picture despite the lack of proper quarterback play.
While they’re still waiting for their Deshaun Watson investment to pan out well for them, the team’s defense will make sure that they stand a fighting chance against the best offenses the NFL has to offer.
While their defense is set, rumors about the team’s pick in the 2024 NFL Draft point to the team selecting an offensive lineman who will be able to protect their talented albeit oft-injured QB.
Cleveland Browns analyst pushes for team to move up for Georgia OL Amarius Mims
The Browns don’t have their first-round pick in this year’s draft as they sent it to Houston as a part of the Deshaun Watson deal. Since they won’t be able to select until the 54th pick of the draft, they might miss out on some talented prospects if they don’t orchestrate moves that would send them up the draft board.
According to Dawgs by Nature’s Jared Mueller, the Browns would do well if they somehow manage to snag Georgia lineman Amarius Mims to the team.
The Georgia Bulldogs standout only played two seasons with the program before declaring for the draft. However, his body of work and physical attributes make him one of the most intriguing offensive lineman prospects come April.
CBS Sports’ Chris Trapasso couldn’t help but gush over how well the young man moved despite his hefty frame:
Ummmm… that is going to be right around the 87th percentile among combine OTs since ’99. And Mims did it at nearly 6’8″ and 340 pounds. Unfathomable. https://t.co/PzK2EjNtQB

However, he’s not the O-lineman prospect that the Cleveland Browns will be interested in. Mueller also listed Garret Greenfield and JC Latham are outstanding linemen who showed out during the Combine.
While it’s highly unlikely that the Browns would move heaven and earth to snag one of these linemen, they should seriously consider their options. Watson could use all the help he could get to get back to who he was when he was running the show in Houston.
