The Cleveland Browns fell to 1-6 on the season, losing on Sunday to their in-state and AFC North rivals, the Cincinnati Bengals, by the score of 21-14. Despite the one-score final, the game was not nearly as close at one might have though. The Bengals led, quite literally, from the start of the game after Charlie Jones returned the opening kickoff 100 yards for a touchdown.
In addition to losing their fifth consecutive game, Cleveland has also lost their starting quarterback, Deshaun Watson, for the rest of the year. He went down with an apparent Achilles injury after having his best game of the season thus far. Watson completed 15 of 17 passes for 128 yards and had a passer rating of 98.0.
At the time of the injury, many feared that Watson’s Achilles was torn and that he would be out for the season.
On Monday, that fear was confirmed.
Cleveland Browns Quarterback Deshaun Watson Is Out for the Rest of the Year

On Monday, the Browns released the following statement regarding Watson’s injury:
“Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) this morning confirmed that Deshaun Watson sustained a ruptured Achilles tendon in the second quarter of yesterday’s game against the Cincinnati Bengals. The injury will require surgical repair, and Deshaun will miss the remainder of the 2024 season. A full recovery is expected.”
Since being traded to Cleveland, Watson has been unable to stay of the field for an entire season. His seven games played this year are the most he’s played in an entire season after having played six in each of the previous two seasons.
Watson finishes this year with a 63.4% completion percentage, 1,148 yards, five touchdowns, three interceptions, and a passer rating of 79.0.
In three seasons with the Browns, he has a 61.2% completion percentage, 3,365 passing yards, 19 touchdowns, 12 interceptions, and a passer rating of 80.7.
Very Few Fans Feel Bad for Cleveland Browns Quarterback Deshaun Watson

When Watson went down with his injury, many fans in the stadium booed him, obviously frustrated with his lack of production over the past three seasons. This action garnered criticism of fans from Watson’s teammates, one of whom referred to him as an upstanding citizen.
As many may recall, Watson was suspended by his former team, the Houston Texans, and the NFL while he was being sued by more than 20 women for sexual harassment.
These allegations, which have never been proven false, have made him very unpopular. So unpopular that many fans on social media could not bring themselves to feel bad for him:
