One of the biggest storylines of the NFL offseason thus far has been Cleveland Browns star pass rusher Myles Garrett and his demand for a trade. For weeks, fans and analysts have speculated which NFL team would be able to pry the four-time First Team All-Pro away from Cleveland despite their stance that they would not, in fact, being trading him.
And as it turns out, they were right.
According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, the Browns and Garrett have come to an agreement on a contract extension that will pay him $40+ million a year, making him the highest-paid non-quarterback in NFL history:

The 2023 NFL Defensive Player of the Year will be staying put in Cleveland for the foreseeable future with this deal, giving the Browns an important piece to build around as they try to restructure their roster into one that can contend for the postseason.
Cleveland Browns Pass Rusher Myles Garrett Is Among the Best in the NFL

Garrett was the first overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft by the Browns, and it did not take long for him to show why he was so highly regarded. After registering 7.0 sacks in 11 games as a rookie, he had 13.5 in 2018 while making his first Pro Bowl and being named Second Team All-Pro.
After a 2019 season that saw him play just 10 games (but still rack up 10.0 sacks), Garrett earned his first First Team All-Pro nod (and second Pro Bowl selection) after accumulating 12.0 sacks in 2020.
He was even better in 2021, playing all 17 games for the first time in his career and registering 16.0 sacks while being named First Team All-Pro again. Despite identical numbers in 2022, he was named Second Team All-Pro while making his third consecutive Pro Bowl.
But 2023 is when Garrett really established himself as a player who is on another level than everyone else. His 14.0 sacks and 30 quarterback hits led to a Defensive Player of the Year Award win.
Last season, the former first overall pick had 14.0 sacks again and led the NFL with 22 tackles for loss.
Now, the Browns get to keep him around for the foreseeable future, where he can help maintain the high standard of defense they already have.
All they need now is to figure out the offense.
