The Cleveland Browns offensive line has had a disastrous start to the 2024 season. PFF ranks their offensive line as the fourth-worst offensive line unit in the National Football League throughout their first five games. The unit has allowed the most quarterback hits with 34, pressures with 73, sacks with 26, and the second-highest pressure percentage with 32.9% h/t Pro Football Reference.
The issue with their offensive is that they haven’t been able to stay healthy. Pro Bowl right guard Wyatt Teller is on injured reserve with an MCL sprain. Swing tackle James Hudson III could miss the rest of the season with a shoulder injury that required surgery. Jedrick Wills Jr. has missed three games with a knee injury, and their All-Pro hasn’t played yet.
The Cleveland Browns All-Pro RT has yet to play
2-time All-Pro Right tackle Jack Conklin has yet to play in their first five games due to two separate injuries. Conklin missed their first two games to continue rehab from last season’s knee injury. He was going to make his season debut in Week 3, but a hamstring injury a few days before the game derailed his chances of playing. In addition, he missed Weeks 4 and 5.
The Browns will travel to Pennsylvania to play against the 2-2 Philadelphia Eagles at Lincoln Financial Field. Despite ranking near the bottom in pressures, hurries, hits, and sacks, PFF has the Eagles ranked as the 10th-best defensive line unit in the league. This would be a good opportunity for the Browns to have their All-Pro tackle available for this game.
He is expected to play
According to Daniel Oyefusi of ESPN, the Cleveland Browns expect Jack Conklin to make his season debut against the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 6. Although he will play, Kevin Stefanski didn’t elaborate on his role for Sunday’s game, whether he will start or serve as the swing tackle. He made it through the week of practice, and the Browns removed him from their injury report.
Browns OT Jack Conklin and TE David Njoku are good to go for Sunday’s game.
Kevin Stefanski wouldn’t say if Conklin would have a role on a game day.

Either way, Jack Conklin or Dawand Jones gets the nod at right tackle. Jones started their first five games and has done a decent job, but not perfect. He has given up 15 pressures, nine hurries, three hits, and three sacks.

Have a role?

Unless he shows up missing arms and legs on Sunday I say he plays. Dawand needs to sit until he is ready to play NFL football.
