The Cleveland Browns opened their season off with a horrible 33-17 loss against the Dallas Cowboys, and of course, the biggest story of the game was Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson, who had yet again another horrible performance.
Watson has made 13 starts since being traded to Cleveland in March of 2022, and he has shown a lot more bad than good during that time.
The 28-year-old quarterback was guaranteed $230 million when he was traded to the Browns, the highest guaranteed money in NFL history.
The only thing Watson has done since being in Cleveland was being suspended for the first 11 games in 2022 for sexual assault allegations and then having a shoulder injury in 2023 that required surgery.
2024 rolled around, and after the first game, nothing got better, and everything got worse. It wasn’t all Watson’s fault because the offensive line was awful, the running game was nowhere to be found, and the Browns trailed a lot for most of the game, so they had to throw almost every play.
Watson completed 24 of 45 passes for 169 yards for one score and two interceptions on Sunday, and it’s time to rip the band-aid off and bench the $230 million quarterback.
The Cleveland Browns Have To Bench Watson
It’s over. Watson can no longer be the starting quarterback of the Browns, and he can not be suited up against the Jacksonville Jaguars next week.
The team has no faith in Watson, and last season, when Joe Flacco came in and took over, the team rallied around him, and they don’t do the same when number four is on the field.
The season isn’t over yet, and it’s only one game, but if the Browns make a change now and start Jameis Winston, they could save themselves.
Watson has shown for three years that he is no longer the quarterback he once was, and there is no reason to keep playing him.
There is nothing the Browns can do about the money they gave him, but they shouldn’t be playing him because they gave him 230 million dollars.
Cleveland fans deserve better than what was put out on the field on Sunday, and if Watson is not benched, nothing will change.

What a foolish signing by getting Watson and his guaranteed money.
You need to an O line, not one qb in this league can have success without one,no running game? No holes the or a rb to run through, same to reason,a horrible O line.
