Cleveland Browns: Fans Call For Besmirched QB Deshaun Watson’s Job After Brutal Performance in Blowout Loss Against Dallas Cowboys – Week 1

After the Cleveland Browns traded for dishonored quarterback Deshaun Watson in 2022, the AFC North squad inked the signal-caller to a five-year, $230 million deal, including the most guaranteed money in NFL history. However, his tenure with Cleveland has starkly contrasted his days with the Houston Texans, where he earned three Pro Bowl nods. On Sunday, Watson again struggled mightily, with the boo birds raining down for much of the second half.

Watson finished Sunday’s contest with an abysmal 24-of-45 for 169 yards and one touchdown stat line. More importantly, he threw for two interceptions, fumbled, and took six sacks. Albeit only in Week 1, fans let their emotions fly on social media following the blowout home loss.

According to ESPN content creator Paul Hembekides:

As a reminder, Deshaun Watson carries a $72.9 million cap hit in 2025 AND 2026. It’s the worst contract ever.

Simply put, Deshaun Watson has been a horrendous hire for the Cleveland Browns. Since his debut, Cleveland is 8-5 in his starts. However, what is more disturbing is his drop-off in the product. In four years with the Houston Texans, Watson owned a fantastic 104.5 quarterback rating, throwing for 104 touchdowns against 36 picks across 53 starts. Conversely, with Cleveland, Watson holds an 81.7 quarterback rating and, after Sunday, has just 15 touchdowns against 11 interceptions.

Sunday’s performance could be his worst, with his 51.1 rating marking his third worst in an eight-year NFL career. With Watson’s career nearly getting derailed over sexual assault allegations and lawsuits in 2021 and his continued poor performances in a Cleveland uniform, fans are at wit’s end with the gunslinger, going as far as calling for his job.

Deshaun Watson has stolen so much money….

60% on Deshaun Watson, because he sucks now

20% Stefanski for the terrible playcalling

20% Andrew Berry for thinking we could just roll any two tackles out there and not addressing it sooner

    I wouldn't play Deshaun another snap. Ever.#Browns #DawgPound#BringFlaccoBackO

Deshaun Watson sucks. The Haslams suck. Their forces combined for the worst contract in NFL history.

I’m glad I packed away all my gear after those dirtbags hired that creep. #GoBrowns

What Deshaun Watson does on his own time is one thing. But when it turns into my time, that’s when I have a problem.

    Where’s Joe? #Browns

The Browns need to go to Jameis or DTR and cut their losses with Deshaun Watson. I don’t think it’s a linemen issue. I don’t think it’s a receiver issue. It’s a Deshaun Watson issue.

Cut DeShaun Watson & eat the money…hire Ryan Tannehill..#Browns

    — lesley (@arcangelcricket) September 8, 2024

Deshaun Watson is the reason I didn't buy NFL on YouTube this year. I think I made the right decision.

    — Darth Earl (@EarlLipphardtJr) September 8, 2024

The Browns knows Deshaun Watson is cooked, that's why they acquired 127 quarterbacks in the offseason
