The Cleveland Browns saw two linebackers leave in free agency this week, Anthony Walker Jr and Sione Takitaki, and has only brought one back in Jordan Hicks from the Minnesota Vikings.
Cleveland Browns Linebacker Room Is Not Deep
The Brown’s linebacker room is not deep at the moment, and they only have Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah and Tony Fields II in the room right now to go along with Hicks, who will most likely be on the opening day 53-man roster, so the position needs depth.
Browns Are Hosting Devin Bush
According to Adam Schefter, the Browns will host linebacker Devin Bush Jr. on a visit this week.
Many Browns fans should remember Bush’s four seasons with the Pittsburgh Steelers. He had a great rookie season and finished third in Defensive Rookie of the Year voting.
Bush’s second season in the league ended with him playing in only five games because of a torn knee, and his career was never the same after that.
Bush spent two more seasons in Pittsburgh and then moved to Seattle last season. Since his rookie year, he has yet to record over 100 tackles in a season.
Bush Would Fill The TakiTaki Role
The 25-year-old linebacker is a rotational player at this point of his career and would likely come in and take over the TakiTaki role. He would be mostly a linebacker in special packages unless someone gets injured.
TakiTaki was exceptional in the role he filled with the team, and when Anthony Walker Jr got injured in 2022 and 2023, TakiTaki came in and held the spot down, and you could argue he did a better job than Walker.
The Cleveland Browns must add at least another veteran linebacker to the roster before the NFL Draft begins. If he fills the void, then let him come in and compete. He could return to his rookie self behind this tremendous defensive line.
