The Cleveland Browns agree to terms with former New York Jets defensive tackle Quinton Jefferson.
The Browns signed defensive tackle Quinton Jefferson to a one-year deal. This is after his most productive season as a pro, which included six sacks from the interior defensive line position. The Browns lost defensive tackle Jordan Elliot earlier in the week and now replace him with an eight-year NFL journeyman.

Cleveland Browns Defensive Line
Jordan Elliot left the Browns to join the San Francisco 49ers. Elliott was a third-round pick in 2020. He was one of four members of the Browns’ 2023 defensive line rotation to hit free agency: edge rusher Za’Darius Smith and defensive tackles Maurice Hurst and Shelby Harris. These three remained in Cleveland.
Elliott becomes the first draftee of Browns general manager Andrew Berry to depart the team via free agency after his rookie contract. Expect Cleveland to address defensive tackle later in free agency and potentially with one of its second-day picks in next month’s draft.
Quinton Jefferson hopes to replace the void left by Elliot. He has spent time with four NFL teams in his eight year career, a mojority of those years were spent in Seattle. Jefferson’s six sack season came as a surprise to the Jets last season, but playing next to All-Pro Quinnen Williams helped create space for him.
Quinton Jefferson to Cleveland🔥
Jefferson, 31, 6-4, 291, had a career year in 2023 with NYJ after bouncing around Seatle, Buffalo, and Las Vegas the past 4 years.
He is a rotational IDL known for pass-rushing
2023 Stats (14GP)
• 34 tackles,
• 4 TFLs
• 6 Sacks (CH)— Free Agency Frosty (@FrostyTalksFB) March 14, 2024
Jefferson will now play with defensive ends Za’Darius Smith and Defensive Player of the Year Myles Garrett. Space will again be there for Jefferson, and hopefully they can continue their dominance.
