While the Cincinnati Bengals may not be the most popular team in the NFL, the organization has one of the most loyal fanbases around. Speaking from experience, Cincinnati fans bought tickets and watched for decades as the product on the field simply didn’t fit what we believed the team could be on paper. While the organization suffered a painful tendency to disappoint the most loyal of fans, the players have tended to be spectacular on that front.
Cincinnati Bengals Man of the Year Hosts Event for Charity Contributors on Saint Patrick’s Day
Well fortunately for Cincinnati, one of their leaders has certainly lived up to his billing after he was nominated for the Walter Payton Man of the Year Award in 2023. On Sunday, Karras hosted the event known as “St. Tatty’s Day” where to thank the community, Karras would pay for the fans to get the Cincy Hat pattern tattooed on.
The event was a thank you for the fans who voted for Karras to win the Man of the Year award where he won $35,000 to provide to the Village of Merici. The Village of Merici is a nonprofit organization that provides support and community to adults living with disabilities in Karras’ hometown of Indianapolis.
Fantastic story here – earlier this week Joe Burrow & Ted Karras were at dinner together.
Burrow challenged @_teddy_k to get a “Cincy” tattoo…in return, @JoeyB is donating 25K to the @VillageofMerici.

To provide a little bit more fun, Cincinnati superstar quarterback Joe Burrow decided to pledge $25,000 to the charity as well if Karras would join in on the festivities with a tattoo of his own. Karras, no stranger of putting his money right where his mouth is, didn’t shy down and ended up with the Cincy Hat tattoo as well. Burrow has made a point to be ever present in his community and support the city that has given him his fame.
The event also included a silent auction that helped provide money for the charity as well. Cincy Hat put out the recommendation that everyone should get the tattoo to support Karras and Karras doubled down by asserting that he would pay for the tattoos himself if he won the $35,000 to put toward his charity.
Cincy Hat as a company has helped Karras raise over $1.2 million for the charity and helped Karras earn his title as man of the yar. The combined generosity of Karras and Burrow is a nice reminder that while these athletes may make exorbitant amounts of money, it is possible that they give back to the community just as much as they take.
